Par 11

At the recent  Squash New Zealand Forum it was agreed that all junior events would be played to PAR11 for 2017 as a trial with a review at the end of 2017 which would look to include seniors and masters for following years.

The Squash Northland Management Committee and coaching team has agreed that ALL Northland events in 2017 – the Northland Open, Northland Masters, Northland Juniors and Northland Champion of Champions, Interclub and Superchamps Eliminations will be played to PAR11 for all juniors, seniors and masters.

Clubs are encouraged to make their tournaments PAR11.

Survey

Thank to you all those who completed our recent survey.  We got some great feedback which will help us with our planning.  Jenny Finalyson was the lucky winner of the Long or Short? – the story of NZ Squash book.

One of the survey questions was in regards to interclub due to our concern about the declining number of clubs/teams in recent years.

We had some great responses and ideas and are now looking at putting together an Interclub Working Group to make some changes to the way we run our interclub before the start of the interclub season – which usually starts towards the end of March.

If anyone from your club would like to be part of this group please let me know – correspondence will be via email.

Canadian/US Juniors

Zoe Dykzeul, Sian Duggan and Freddie Jameson have recently competed in the Canadian Junior Open and the USA Junior Open where they all performed well.  A special mention  to Freddie who placed 3rd in the US Junior Under 11 Boys event – an outstanding effort!!

Sponsor for 2017 Senior Player Series

As you are aware, Angus McDonald has sponsored this senior player series for 3 years and 2016 was his last year of sponsorship.  We greatly appreciate Angus’s generous sponsorship over these 3 years, this series has had a positive effect on tournament entries and has been a great boost for squash in Northland.

Looking forward, we are in the process of looking for another sponsor for a 2017 Player Series and beyond. If you know anyone who may be interested in sponsoring this series – any amount of sponsorship is appreciated, either cash or goods – please contact Squash Northland.
