Freddie Jameson won the Under 13 Boys title with Cam Griffin runner-up and Flynn Venmore 3rd
Northland juniors took a clean sweep of the U13 Boys in the recent North Island Age Group Juniors held last weekend. Freddie Jameson, Cam Griffin and Flynn Venmore all from the small Manaia Squash Club took out 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
Cam and Flynn both beat higher seeded players in tough 5 setters to make it through to the semi finals and play each other, while top seed Freddie, comfortably made it through to the final where he faced clubmate Cam with Freddie winning the final in 3 and taking the U13 Boys title.
18 Northland juniors competed in the Wellington tournament and with 180 entries from throughout New Zealand and the glass court erected at Te Raupareha Arena it made for an exciting 3 days of squash.
There were also some great results in other age groups with Chelsea Traill 4th Under 13 girls, Annmarie Holst 4th in U19 girls and Devlin Gurr, seeded 12th and placing 6th in the U17 boys division.
Other top 10 finishes were Shea Ferguson 6th in Under 15 girls, Olivia Rhodes 6th in Under 13 girls, Hayley Rhodes 5th and Montana Vette-Blomquist 6th in U11 girls, Josh Laing, Tane Traill and Zac Laing 5th, 6th and 7th in U11 boys and Riley-Jack Vette-Blomquist 9th in the U17 boys. Emmie Ferguson placed 4th in the J grade mixed division.
