NZ Masters

The 2020 NZ Masters was hosted by Whangarei and Kamo Squash Clubs last weekend for the first time since 1994.  With over 180 entries in the individuals and 9 district teams playing in the teams event, this was one of the biggest squash events ever held in Northland.

Northland had it’s fair share of champions with Shelley Kitchen taking out the 40+ womens title and Kaitaia’s Hongi Laing winning the 70+ mens title.  Andrew Venmore, playing in the mens graded won his division. Making their respective finals were Shaun Sansom in the 35+ mens and Neil Rossin in the 40+ mens.

Following the individuals the 9 districts battled it out with Auckland taking out the title for the 5th consecutive year.  The Northland team of  Shaun Sansom, Neil Rossin, Sam Gearing, Gary Traill, Bruce Smith, Richard van Rynbach, Hongi Laing, Neil Lewis, Crystal Rhodes, Shelley Kitchen, Karen Morgan, Vicki Ferguson, Cindy Hassan, Linda Matson, Eva Tahata, had some great results and placed 5th overall.
