10 Northland junior players competed in the Oceania Junior Championships which were held at the Remuera Squash Club over the weekend.
Annmarie Holst, 6th seed in the Under 19 girls placed 4th.   Annmarie had a great upset win in a close 5 sets against 3rd seed Georgia Robcke to reach the semi finals where she then faced No 1 seed and eventual winner Australian Alex Hayden.
Kamo’s Tane Traill placed 6th in the Under 11 boys division, after having a marathon 5 setter which took just over an hour against the 3rd seed Zezima Waitai in his quarter final.  It was a similar story in the U17 boys with 5th seeded Riley-Jack Vette-Blomquist narrowly losing his quarter final match against Australian Gregory Chan.
Maungaturoto’s Annmarie Holst was selected for the NZ Trans-Tasman test team to play against Australia prior to the Oceania Juniors which New Zealand dominated and won for the 5th consecutive year.  Annmarie won both of her matches in the tests.
