Shelley Kitchen and Hongi Laing win NZ Masters titles

Northland has two National Masters Age Group Champions which was played last weekend at the Devoy Squash and Fitness Centre in Tauranga.   16 Masters players from Northland competed at the NZ Masters Championships.

Shelley Kitchen won the NZ National Masters title 35 – 39 womens age group.  She played Jo Shanks from Bay of Plenty in the final winning in a tough 4 sets.

Hongi Laing from Kaitaia won his final against Wayne Seebeck in the 65 – 69 mens age group.  Hongi was seeded 2nd so this was a great win after being runner-up the last few years.

Trina Moore came 3rd in the Womens 40 – 44 age group.

Also winning their divisions were – Joanne Mason winner of Div 3 women, she played Robyn Hammann also of Northland in the division final.  Mike Smith won the Mens Division 4 final.
