Whangarei Boys High win NZ Secondary Schools Champs again!

The Whangarei Boys High School squash team are the NZ Secondary Schools National Champions for the second year in a row!

The Whangarei Boys High School squash team are the NZ Secondary Schools National Champions for the second year in a row! The team of Freddie Jameson, Flynn Venmore, Josh Laing, Zac Laing, Luca Smith and Tane Traill went in as top seeds and went throughout the recent tournament in Auckland without losing a match. They played Tauranga Boys College in the final, in which the boys were on fire winning 5-0.
 
The Whangarei Girls High School team also made it to the final, winning a close semi final to make the final against against Otumoetai College in a very exciting tie that went down to the wire, with the score being 2 matches all with everything riding on the last match which Otumoetai eventually won in 5.
Whangarei Girls High also sent a second team to the nationals who placed 15th, with the Whangarei Boys High team finishing in 11th place, both teams improving on their seedings.
The Rodney College boys team won the plate and placed 17th overall, also beating their seeding.
 
Flynn Venmore from Whangarei Boys High was selected in the NZ Secondary Schools Trans Tasman team and Chelsea Traill (senior) and Zac Laing (junior) who are reserves.
