Exciting squash at NZJO

A very successful AON NZ Junior Open was held at the Whangarei and Kamo clubs over Anzac weekend with 185 players taking part, including 33 Northland juniors. This tournament was the biggest individual tournament to be held in Whangarei and it was a great opportunity to watch an outstanding level of squash from New Zealand’s top junior players, there will no doubt be a lot of inspired young players.
Number one seeds Abbie Palmer and Jamie Oakley took out the Open titles, with Abbie winning in 3 against Kaitlyn Watts and Jamie Oakley taking it out in 4 games against Scott Galloway.
The event also doubled as a selection tournament for the World Junior Boys NZ team and Finn Trimble (6th seed) had a strong 3rd placing , losing in a tough 5 setter in the semi finals to Scott Galloway.
Kamo’s Anna Moselen was impressive in winning Girls division 2, playing clubmate Ella Holwell in the final.
