Junior Squad Selection Day
Posted: 11/01/16
Summer Greetings to all Juniors and Parents
The 2015 squash year is all finished, we hope you are having a well deserved break. Many of you have said you are going to stay fit and keep playing squash over summer so you can start 2016 with a bang, if this is you, keep up the good work but also have a good summer break!!
On Sunday the 14th February Squash Northland will hold a Junior Development Squad selection Open Day at Whangarei Squash Club. Any keen junior under 17 is invited to come along. The day will be a mix of fitness, education, and match play.
The Squash Northland Development Squad is a squad of players who we have recognised as having potential to represent Northland in the future. There will be four Development Squad training days during the year.
This will also be an opportunity for selectors to look at those juniors who will be likely to represent Northland in the Junior Quadrangular Tournament to be held at the North Shore Squash Club from the 1st – 3rd April 2016.
This is a tournament held between four districts, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Auckland and Northland, and includes 20 players, the top two male and female players in each age group, under 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19. Because this tournament is early in the season we thought it best that everyone is aware of this and can plan any training to suit.
Play-offs for the ‘Quad Squad’ age groups where there are more than two juniors competing for selection, will be played in the evening of Monday the 7th March. If any juniors come up against each other in the Whangarei Open on the 4th – 6th April these games will count as play offs instead.
So don’t forget to write Sunday 14th February in your diary and a reminder will be sent closer to the time. In the meantime have a fun summer and try to do some training when you can.
