Shelley Kitchen & Finn Trimble win the 2023 Northland Open

The 2023 Northland Open titles were won by top seeded Northland players Shelley Kitchen and Finn Trimble at the recent Northland Open tournament held at the Whangarei Squash Club.

With $500 cash prize up for grabs in the Open divisions, and also doubles draws this year, the tournament attracted a strong field of entries with a good number of players and supporters from out of town, adding to the excellent atmosphere over the weekend.

The womans final was contested between the new Whangarei Club Manager and former World Number 6, Shelley Kitchen and Whangarei’s Zoe Dykzeul with Shelley taking it out in 3 close games.

Northland’s Finn Trimble won the mens final in 4 games, in what was a very entertaining match against another A1 graded player, Bay of Plenty’s Joe Smythe with Finn’s name now on the trophy for a 5th time.

There was plenty of action in the mens and mixed doubles as well as the other singles divisions:
