Riley-Jack wins New Zealand Junior Open Boys Open title!

Top Northland junior Riley-Jack Vette-Blomquist won the New Zealand Junior Open Boys Open title at the New Zealand Junior Open which was held last weekend at the Remuera Squash Club in Auckland.  18 year old Vette-Blomquist from the Manaia Squash Club went in as top seed and lived up to his billing reaching the final without dropping a set.  He played Bay of Plenty’s Joe Smythe in a close and exciting final, taking out the championship 11-9, 11-6, 7-11, 13-11.
Northland had a good number of juniors attend this tournament with 14 players competing. In the Boys Open Maz Saunders, Flynn Venmore, Freddie Jameson, Cam Griffin and Alex Greatorex all had some good results over the weekend while in the Girls Open Chelsea Traill also had a strong tournament.
Other notable performances over the weekend were Josh Laing who was runner-up in Boys Division 2, Jamie Greatorex who won Boys Division 4 and Montana Vette-Blomquist who was runner-up in Girls Division 3.
Natalie Sayes, ex Northland now residing in Auckland won the Girls Open beating Waikato’s Sophie Hodges in the girls final.
