Northland’s Brent Lewis won the Waikato Open Mens Div 1 last weekend with a fantastic win in 4 sets over Joelle King (World Ranked #9 Womens).  Lewis stormed through his side of the draw to reach the final, playing some smart solid squash and taking home the substantial prize money.

A fair number of Northlanders headed to Hamilton where the Waikato Open tournament was being played in conjunction with the $5k PSA Men’s Event.   Players from all over the world descended on Hamilton with players from England, Australia, America, South Korea and Singapore coming to compete along with a number of local New Zealand players.  Wellington’s Evan Williams (World Ranked 101) from defended the PSA title he won in 2015, while Joelle King won the Women’s Open title.  Luke Jones made it though to the semi finals of the PSA event, an awesome effort from Luke.

Other Northlanders in action in Hamilton were, Sacha Pou-Tito, Sian Duggan, Olivia Brookland, Iyra Stewart, Reanna Watson, Denese Gallagher, Finn Trimble, Tyler Ranger, Ryan Chestnut, Milton Brookland, JJ Stewart, Eugene Venter, RJ Vette-Blomquist, Russell Blomquist, Freddie Jameson and  Alec Jameson and well as Jacinta Matson and Max Trimble who are both at Waikato Uni.
